The Luxor Beach is perfect in every way whether it be for families or couples, it is perfectly located right on the beach, a few minutes walk to plenty of lovely restaurants. It also has its own pool/jacuzzi which a lot of beach positioned hotels don't have, plus it also has a children's pool on the beach. There is also a spa at the top of the hotel, looks lovely on the hotel photos but unfortunately we didn't get the opportunity to try it out. There is a private area on the beach allocated to the hotel which has lots of things to do for children during the day, plenty of beach volleyball courts, table tennis tables, bar football, water boats/kayaks for children all within a shallow cove, banana boats/jet skis for hire, the usual beach/hotel entertainers.......plus free cold water dispensers which were extremely pleasing in 40c heat! The hotel has mixture of newly refurbished and original bedrooms, we had two inter-connecting rooms overlooking the pool for a family of 4 which were excellent, with 2 separate bathrooms/showers, ideal with two teenage daughters. The newly refurbished rooms are lovely and modern from what we saw of them, some overlooking the beach and some the pool which is at the front of the hotel with the rear of the hotel facing the beach. We ate out every night in Cattolica as was on B&B rate so cannot comment on the hotel restaurant food, however the menu's looked very good and if the breakfasts were anything to compare with then I guess the restaurant food would have been very good to excellent. The breakfast's were plentiful, the usual fruits, yoghurts, cereals, cheeses, salamis, omelettes, crepes, pastries, juices, coffees, you name it they had it and if they didn't they would go out of their way to make sure they had it for you the next morning, a big thank you to Masimo and his team. Giovanni must be the happiest barman in Cattolica, always smiling and nothing was too much trouble for him, thank you for organising the complimentary bottle of prosecco for us on the last night, it was gratefully received!! As for Andre, what job does he not do at this hotel, he was jack of all trades and was the first person we met when we arrived, he done everything from parking our cars, helping us with our luggage, then organising our welcome drinks, then playing the piano, he was a credit to this hotel. Then there is Valentina and her team on reception, always greeting you with a smile and had the answer to all our questions from the initial email enquiry, which was answered very promptly, to the minute we checked out, Valentina was marvellous, it might not be the most luxurious hotel in the world, I would rate it a 3.5/5 for luxury but 5/5 for the staff as they are what make it at this hotel, Erik please take note you have wonderful staff and please make sure you don't lose them as we look forward to seeing them all again next summer!!
